Studio + Outdoor: The Best of Both Worlds
Soulful Studio Portraits
In the studio, I use moody, flattering lighting to create portraits with depth and emotion. This is perfect for dramatic close-ups, black-and-white images, and more editorial-style poses that look incredible in print.
Outdoor Senior Sessions
Outdoors, we’ll choose locations that fit your senior’s vibe—urban, natural, or a little of both. Popular choices include local parks, downtown Vancouver spots, and areas with trees, texture, and interesting light. We’ll schedule around the best light of the day (in the evening, 1 ½ hours before sunset) for the most flattering, natural look.
What Happens During a Senior Portrait Session
Before Your Session – Planning Consult
We’ll start with a quick planning consult in person or video chat. We’ll talk about:
Your senior’s personality and interests
Studio, outdoor, or a mix of both
Clothing, colors, and how many outfits to bring
How you’d love to enjoy the final images (album, wall art, gifts, etc.)
I’ll send a simple prep guide to help with outfits, grooming, and what to bring on the day of the session.
During Your Session – Relaxed, Guided, and Fun
Most senior sessions last about 60–90 minutes, depending on locations and outfit changes. I’ll guide your senior every step of the way with flattering posing, simple prompts, and breaks as needed so they never feel stiff or awkward. We’ll aim for a mix of:
Classic portraits grandparents will love
Creative, expressive images for your home
Fun shots for social media and announcements
After Your Session – Reveal & Ordering Appointment
About a week or so after your session, we’ll meet for a Reveal & Ordering Appointment (in-studio). I’ll show you a curated set of the best images and help you:
Choose favorites
Design wall art and collections
Build an album
Select gift prints for family
You only purchase what you love.

Frequently Asked Questions About Senior Portraits
When should we schedule senior portraits?
Most families schedule senior portraits between late spring and early fall of senior year, but it can vary by school. Booking 4–8 weeks in advance gives you the best choice of dates, especially for evenings and weekends.
How many outfits can my senior bring?
Most seniors bring 2–4 outfits. We’ll talk about clothing during your planning consult so we can make the most of your time and choose looks that photograph well in both studio and outdoor settings.
Can we include family or a friend?
Yes! This session is focused on your senior, but we can absolutely include a few portraits with parents or siblings at the beginning or end of the session. If you’d like a more involved family session, we can talk about adding dedicated time or booking a separate family portrait session.
Do you retouch the images?
Yes. I provide natural, flattering retouching on the images you order—think skin smoothing, minor blemish removal, and gentle enhancements—while keeping your senior looking like themselves. We can discuss any specific concerns at your consult.
Will we get digital files?
My work is designed around printed artwork, but you are not limited to prints. Albums include high-resolution printable digital files—we’ll go over those options at your Reveal & Ordering Appointment.
Where are you located?
Studio Q Photography is a home-based studio in Vancouver, WA, serving the greater Portland metro area. Exact address and parking details are provided in your confirmation email after booking.
