What Are Fairy Portraits?
Fairy portraits are imaginative, storybook-style photos of your child in a magical studio set. Think soft light, twinkly details, and a mix of posed and candid expressions. Your child chooses wings and props, I guide them through simple posing, and together we create artwork that looks like it came out of a storybook.
All fairy sessions with Studio Q Photography are photographed in my Vancouver, WA studio, so we can control the lighting, styling, and atmosphere no matter what the weather is doing outside.
Who Fairy Portraits Are Perfect For
Children who love fairies, fantasy, dress-up, or imaginative play
Parents and grandparents who want printed art for walls, albums, or keepsake boxes
Ages 3–10 are ideal (younger or older may still work — just ask!)
Families who prefer a calm, guided studio experience instead of a rushed mini session at a big box store
What Happens During a Fairy Portrait Session
Before Your Session
We’ll start with a quick planning chat by email or Google Meet so I can learn about your child, their personality, and what kind of artwork you’d love for your home. I’ll send a simple prep guide with tips on clothing, hair, and how to get little ones excited for their “fairy day.”
During Your Session
Fairy sessions take place in my Vancouver studio. Your child will:
Choose wings and simple props
Step into a styled set created just for fairy portraits
Be gently guided into flattering, natural poses
Have time to warm up, play a little, and show their real personality
Sessions typically last about 30–45 minutes so we can create a variety of looks without overwhelming your child.
After Your Session – The Reveal & Ordering Appointment
About a couple weeks after your session, we’ll meet for a Reveal & Ordering Appointment (in-studio or on Zoom). I’ll show you the best images, help you select favorites, and design printed artwork together — wall portraits, albums, gift prints, or a fairy keepsake box. You only purchase what you love, and every printed image includes a matching social-media file for sharing.

Frequently Asked Questions About Fairy Portraits
What ages are best for fairy portraits?
Fairy sessions are ideal for ages 3–10, but I’ve happily photographed both younger and older children. If you’re not sure, just reach out and tell me a bit about your child and we’ll decide together.
Do you provide the wings and costumes?
I provide fairy wings and simple props for the session. Many families bring a special dress, skirt, or outfit that feels magical to their child. After you book, I’ll send a prep guide with clothing ideas that photograph beautifully in the studio.
Can siblings be photographed together?
Yes, siblings can absolutely be photographed together. Because fairy sessions are booked per child, there is an additional session fee for each child who will be individually photographed. We’ll also create a few sweet sibling portraits during your time in the studio.
Will I get digital files?
My focus is on printed artwork, but you are not locked out of digitals. Every printed image you purchase includes a matching social-media digital file, and larger collections include printable digital files. If you prefer a mostly-digital collection, we can go over those options at your ordering appointment.
How far in advance should I book?
Fairy sessions are available on select weekdays and weekends throughout the year, and special Fairy Day events book quickly. Booking 4–6 weeks in advance gives you the best selection of dates.
Where is your studio located?
Studio Q Photography is located in Vancouver, WA, convenient to the Portland metro area. Exact address and parking directions will be included in your confirmation email.
