🦮 Pet Portrait Session Day: What You Need to Know 🦮

I’m so excited to capture magical moments with fur baby! Getting them ready for a portrait session can make a big difference in the quality of the photos. Here are some tips to help ensure a smooth and successful shoot:

🐶 Before the Session:

  • Grooming & Cleaning – Give your pet a bath or professional grooming a few days before the session so they look their best. Trim any overgrown fur around the eyes and clean their paws.

  • Brushing & Touch-ups – Even if your pet doesn’t need a full grooming, a good brushing the day of the shoot helps reduce loose fur and adds shine.

  • Exercise Beforehand – A short walk or playtime before the session helps release extra energy, making your pet calmer and more focused.

  • Pack Essentials – Bring lots of high-value treats if they are food motivated like cheese or meat-based. Try to stay away from cookies because they crumble. If they’re not food motivated bring their favorite toys. Don’t forget a brush for quick touch-ups. If they wear accessories (like a bandana or bowtie), have those ready.

  • Practice Poses – If your pet knows basic commands like "sit," "stay," or "look," practice these ahead of time to make the session smoother.

📸 During the Session:

  • You’ll Be My Assistant! – Since you know your pet best, I’ll rely on you to help get their attention, encourage good behavior, and keep them comfortable.

  • Stay Calm & Patient – Pets pick up on your energy. If you're relaxed, they’ll be more at ease.

  • Use Treats & Toys – These help get your pet’s attention and keep them engaged with the camera.

  • Follow My Cues – I’ll guide you on positioning and tricks to capture your pet’s best expressions.

🐕 After the Session:

  • Reward Your Pet – Give them extra praise, treats, or playtime to make the experience positive.

  • Trust the Process – Even if your pet was wiggly, I am skilled at capturing great moments between movements.
