✨ Fairy Portrait Session Prep & Info

So you’re coming in for Fairy Portraits!
Here are some tips to help you prepare for your portrait session.

Thank you for booking a Fairy Portrait session! To help create the most magical experience possible, here are a few tips and notes to help you prepare:

💅 Before the Session

  • Please remove any chipped nail polish and temporary tattoos before your session. These can be very difficult to retouch in Photoshop and may distract from the final image.

  • Make sure your child arrives clean and well-rested for the best experience!

👗 Wardrobe & Styling

I have a beautiful collection of fairy dresses, wings, and flower crowns available for use during the session. Everything is styled on the day of your shoot to suit your child’s look and personality.

For children with long hair, please pin it back slightly — just enough to keep it from covering the face, but not so tightly that it feels stiff. Soft curls look lovely if you’d like to add a little styling at home.
Some parents choose to add a light touch of blush, sparkles, or lip gloss — totally optional, but it often adds to the excitement and helps your child feel extra special.

🧚 During the Session

I know kids — and I’ve got this! To help me connect with your child and capture their genuine expressions, I ask that parents:

  • Let your child speak for themselves when I ask them a question

  • Refrain from giving instructions, repeating prompts, or coaching from the sidelines

  • Stay quiet during the session so your child stays engaged with me

This allows for the most natural and authentic portraits. I also have treats on hand (if allowed) as a little incentive and reward!

👦 What About Boys?

Sometimes brothers come along for the fun — and they often love it! We have props and styling options that feel just right for boys too, and the same guidelines apply when I’m working with them.

🖼️ Thinking About a Wall Portrait?

If you're considering artwork for your home (completely optional!), take a quick look around and think about where it might go — common choices include your child’s bedroom, family room, or even a hallway or living room.

📱 Take a photo of the wall(s) with your phone and text it to me at (360) 773-4381. I’ll help you choose the perfect size and orientation.

🎨 After the Session

Your images go through a detailed artistic process after your selections are made — this includes enhanced color, contrast, and magical retouching. Because this editing is quite extensive, your proofs will be shown with only light edits.

We’ll schedule a viewing appointment a couple of weeks after your session, where you’ll see the images and make your selections. I’ll guide you through the entire process.

If you have any questions at all, feel free to reach out!
